Meetings, Parties & Company Picnics
Meetings, Parties and Celebrations for any Occasion Above Historic Gold Hill, Colorado, est. 1859
Expect Adventure. The road to the Ranch winds up through the forested mountains west of Boulder. In 10 miles it rises 3000 feet in elevation. The first six miles are paved; the top four take you up the ridge on a county-maintained curvy dirt road. Since the Fourmile Fire burned through on September 6, 2010, the drive up Sunshine Canyon allows for broader views, the emergence of lusher green groundcover, and the chance to see hardy mountain folks rebuilding.
Vistas. Overlook some of the most spectacular vistas in the Rockies. The rise from the plains to the Continental Divide of the Front Range is the shortest there is. Breathe the mountain air, savor the snowy peaks and take in the sunshine.
History. The Colorado Mountain Ranch is located in the Gold Hill Mining District where gold was discovered in 1859, the first in the Boulder area. Boulder was originally founded as a supply town for the mountain mining areas. The Cash mine still operates east of the quaint old mining town of Gold Hill. The Ranch is ¼ mile west of the town.
Welcome. We greet your group with Old West hospitality. You will love the warmth in our log Lodge, set into the pine and reinvigorated wildflower meadows and aspen forests. Enjoy the period décore and abundant homemade Ranch-style meals. Food is well-prepared and presented. Coffee, tea and snacks are served with a smile, mid-morning and mid-afternoon.
The Lodge. The rustic log Lodge was built in the early 1920’s with logs hauled to the Ranch by teams of mules and horses from a few miles up the road near Mt. Alto on the Switzerland Trail since at that time the local Gold Hill area had been clear cut for mining timbers and cabins. The Lodge features a wrap around deck offering plenty of sunshine and mountain views, a large log room for dining, meetings, parties and music, another large open room at the third level, and smaller rooms for break-out sessions on the second level.
The Outdoors. For fun close to the Lodge, there are basketball and volleyball courts, a horseshoe pit, picnic tables, trails for hiking and exploring, a campfire ring, and the corral area with horses and small farm animals. Just a few steps up the trail from the Lodge, the forest opens to our amphitheatre set into the hill and overlooking the snowy ridges of Longs Peak, a perfect setting for fresh-air gatherings and ceremonies.
Optional Activities for Parties, Company Picnics and Weddings. Guided horsebackriding, mountainboarding, gymnastics, trampolines, archery, organized field games, team-building challenge ropes course, and especially for children: crafts, face-painting, and barnyard animal petting tours.
Personalized Design. We can help individualize your meeting or party plan, and prepare an exciting proposal and price quote.
